Baseball WA Announces 2024 Hall of Fame Inductee

Baseball WA is proud to announce our 2024 inductee for the BWA Hall of Fame, which celebrates outstanding achievements of the players, coaches, and officials who have shaped our beloved game across the state.

Congratulations to our 2024 Baseball WA Hall of Fame inductee:

  • Peter Moylan

“It is with great pride that we announce Peter Moylan as our 2024 Baseball WA Hall of Fame inductee. He is incredibly deserving of this honour after outstanding and inspiring performances at his club, state, national, and international level,” Baseball WA CEO Lachlan Dale said.

“We look forward to adding Peter to the BWA Hall of Fame where he belongs. It is an honour and a privilege to be able to recognise someone who has helped transform WA and Australian baseball into the sport it is today.”

Peter began his baseball career at South Perth, playing State League in 1994/95/96 and Claxton Shield for Perth Heat in the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons. The relief pitcher signed with Minnesota Twins at the age of 17 and although he was released in 1998, he staged a comeback, breaking out in the 2006 World Baseball Classic with Team Australia. He was signed by the Atlanta Braves that same year and became the 22nd Australian to play in the Major Leagues.

Peter went on to have stints with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Royals before finishing his MLB playing career back at the Braves in 2018. He represented Australia once more at the 2017 World Baseball Classic and 2019 WBSC Premier12.

In 499 Major League Career Games, he has 324 strikeouts, 418.2 innings pitched, a 3.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 24 wins, and four saves. Since his retirement from playing, he has gone on to manage the Melbourne Aces and continues to inspire WA and Australian baseballers to follow their dreams.

Peter will be recognised and officially inducted at the Baseball WA Awards Night held on 26 March 2024.
